SPAIN. Seville. Silver Proclamation Medal, 1724. Luis I. PCGS MS-62.
Herrera-13. Obverse: bust of Luis I facing right. Reverse: Luis I, crowned, seated facing forward, holding a sword and globus cruciger; on either side of him, San Isidoro and San Leandro nimbate, seated, in attitude of benediction. This impressive proclamation medal features an intricate portrait of the short-lived king and an elaborate religious scene on the reverse. The medal is highly original, displaying a light gray tone with pleasing iridescent color on the peripheries. Adjustment marks are noted on both sides, but the piece is otherwise in wholesome Mint State. To view all items from the Pat Johnson Collection, click
