SPAIN. Seville. Silver Proclamation Medal, 1746. Ferdinand VI. PCGS MS-62.
Herrera-27. Obverse: bust of Ferdinand VI facing right. Reverse: Luis I, crowned, seated facing forward, holding a sword and globus cruciger; on either side of him, San Isidoro and San Leandro nimbate, seated, in attitude of benediction. This stunning proclamation medal displays intricate detail, well-struck and gently handled. The surfaces are quite lustrous and deeply toned to a matte steel blue that gives the piece a regal presence. To view all items from the Pat Johnson Collection, click
