MEXICO. 50 Centavos, 1886/5-Go R/S. Guanajuato Mint. NGC MS-63.
KM-407.4. An enticing and elusive overdate that is undoubtedly RARE at this state of preservation. Exceptionally smooth surfaces are bestowed with ample luster under a consistent pinkish and magenta-gray tone. In terms of marks or blemishes, this piece is technically very strong for the Choice Uncirculated grade level, lacking the usual chatter. We cannot recall offering an example since our March 2011 Baltimore sale, when an NGC MS-64 brought $1,610. Clearly the present coin is bound for one of the finest Mexican cabinets.
