PERU. Provisional Government. 8 Reales, 1822-LM JP. Lima Mint. NGC EF-40.
KM-136. This is the first Republican Crown of Peru. In 1823, Royalist forces recaptured Lima, and began counterstamping the type. Few of these coins without counterstamp survived, and fewer still appear undamaged as this example is. All details boldly struck for the grade, with this beauty possessing outstanding eye appeal. Light ash gray toning adds a distinctive desirable hue to this offering.
Estimate: $500 - $750
