SPAIN. Cob 2 Escudos, ND (1566-87)-S D. Seville Mint. Philip II. PCGS MS-62.
Fr-169; Cal-828. Weight: 6.74 gms. Flashes of flaxen-gold luster emanate from the devices of this enticing Cob. The fields feature a mottled texture indicative of aged, possibly rusted dies, but overall the strike is bold to sharp with minimal doubling and incredible detail afforded for the type. Not bested by a single other example in the PCGS population report, this survivor is tied for finest known due to remarkable preservation and production quality.
Estimate: $3000 - $4000
