MACEDON. Kingdom of Macedon. Alexander III (the Great), 336-323 B.C. AR Tetradrachm, Tyre Mint, ca. 325/4-324/3 B.C. NGC Ch VF.
cf. Pr-3272 (Ake). Obverse: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin; Reverse: Zeus seated left on throne, holding scepter and eagle; in left field, Uncertain Phoenician date; Phoenician A below throne. A wonderful example, that offers charming details, despite some evidence of handling and circulation. Despite the NGC holder, this example may well be a lifetime issue, as the Phoenician date is partially obscured in left field.
Estimate: $100 - $200
