ROMAN REPUBLIC. Ti. Claudius Ti.f. Ap.n. Nero. AR Denarius Serratus (3.86 gms), Rome Mint, 79 B.C. NGC Ch MS, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 5/5.
Cr-383/1; Syd-770. Obverse: Diademed and draped bust of Diana right; quiver and bow terminating in stag's head over shoulder; Reverse: Victory driving galloping biga right, holding wreath, reins, and palm from; XXXXII below. Though a common type, the present example offers condition that is seldom seen, garnering an elusive "Choice Mint State" designation from NGC. The strike is complete, and the surfaces rich with a soft luster throughout. A wonderful example that would be hard to match on technical appeal.
