HADRIAN, A.D. 117-138. Egypt, Alexandria. BI Tetradrachm, Year 22 (A.D. 137/8). NGC EF.
RPC-6250. Obverse: Laureate bust right, slight drapery; Reverse: Nilus seated left, holding reed and cornucopia, crocodile to the right; L KB (date) in upper left field. A SCARCE type, this attractive Roman Provincial Tetradrachm offers a full strike and limited evidence of handling throughout. Much in the way of attractive design elements are retained, with only a slight bit of porosity and a touch of green on the reverse noted for completeness. A strong example deserving of numerous bids.
Estimate: $250 - $500
