AUSTRIA. 1/4 Taler, 1740/1. Hall Mint. Karl VI. PCGS MS-63.
KM-1666. An interesting overdate variety as the 1741 was not ever released for circulation. One would guess that the dies were made ahead of time but with the passing of Karl IV, they changed to 1741 to 1740 during the transition to Maria Theresa when her 1/4 Taler was released in 1742. This current example is the finest certified by PCGS and it shows. With flashy surfaces and russet toning this Choice specimen is breathtaking when cradled. The reverse has almost a prooflike quality to it.
Estimate: $300 - $500
