GERMANY. Lorraine. Teston, 1716. Leopold I. NGC MS-63.
KM-96 (under Germany); De Sauley-P1XXXI #1. Overstruck on an earlier issue. From a VERY SCARCE issuance, this highly lustrous piece boasts wide, bright argent surfaces and hints of peripheral russet patina. A lovely, carefully preserved coin, with strictly trivial surface marks that are definitely fewer-than-expected for the Select Uncirculated grade level. Though Krause categorizes the issue under the German States, it is often collected by French specialists as well, and NGC describes the coin as French on the paper insert.
Estimate: $300 - $400
