GREAT BRITAIN. Silvered Brass 2 Shillings (Florin) Model, ND (ca. 1848). Victoria. NGC MS-64.
Rodgers-217. By Allen & Moore. Diameter: 26mm. Obverse: GOD SAVE THE QUEEN over Britannia is sea-chariot, her shield depicting the young head portrait of Victoria; Reverse: MODEL 2 SHILLINGS inside wreath, crown above. An interesting an attractive model that would have been struck sometime before the first florins were issued for circulation in 1849. The diameter is noticeably smaller than the 28mm florins that were actually produced. Lovely pale gold-russet toning blends with deeper colors at the peripheries. The fields are a reflective and satiny texture, remarkably smooth for the assigned grade.
Estimate: $200 - $300
