INDIA. Portuguese India. Goa. Rupia, 1869. Goa Mint. Luis I. NGC MS-62.
KM-282; Gomes-02.03. The dies show significant rust, which has produced potted luster in the fields and softened some of the legends. Despite the crudeness, preservation on this example is nothing short of exceptional. Argent surfaces remain just about as bright as the day it was issued, with ample rotating luster uninterrupted by contact marks or nicks. The portrait shows ample detail, somewhat stately for the type, and the legends remain almost completely on the flan. Ideal for discriminating specialists who desire quality from crudity.
