FRANCE. Paris. Notre Dame Cathedral Bronze Medal, 1855. Geerts (Ixelles) Mint. NGC AU-58.
Ross-M150 (R1); van Hoydonck-122; Reinecke-40. By J. Wiener. Diameter: 59mm. Obverse: Exterior view of the cathedral from the south-southeast; Reverse: A view of the interior looking down the nave toward the apse from an eyepoint just slightly to the right of the center of the center aisle. An always-popular type, this elegant specimen doesn't really exhibit any signs of handling, but does present a few lightly scattered scuffs across some high points as well as a subtle dulling to the luster. Nevertheless, an enchanting representative of the type. Compare to the Jewell specimen, a similar piece that realized a total of $840 in our April 2020 CCO (Lot # 30008).
Estimate: $300 - $500
