Iraq 1931 (ND 1942) P-16a PMG Choice UNC 64 EPQ 1/4 Dinar

L prefix. One of the highlights in this sale, this is the single finest example of the first signature variety (Kennet - Amin) for the "Baby" 1/4 Dinar of Iraq. Fully original, with exceptional eye-appeal and making claims to a Gem Uncirculated grade. This note bears the first portrait of King Faisal IIÂ at approximately eight years of age (he had become King early in his life, after the death of his father, King Ghazi). We have offered the second signature variety before in Choice grade, but that note lacked the "Exceptional Paper Quality" status awarded to this piece. That note brought $14,950 in August of 2021, and we expect this example to easily rival and surpass that figure. A very important opportunity for the Iraqi specialist and despite it being the initial denomination for the Iraqi Kingdom a note that we would consider to be one of the most spectacular Iraqi notes we have offered.Â
