Bronze medal by Szirmai, 1907, 50mm, 52.33g, awarded to Sir Alfred Lyall, bust of Leopold II left, Mercury blowing in a trumpet below, rev. inscribed medallion INSTITUT COLONIAL INTERNATIONAL BRUXELLES JUIN 1907, within an oak and laurel wreath and an inscribed scroll below SIR ALFRED LYALL, KCB, GCIE, hallmarks BRONZE and triangle on edge.
Né à Coulsdon dans le Surrey, Alfred Lyall rejoignit l'Indian Civil Service en 1856, et a fait carrière de longues années en Inde dans la magistrature et l'administration jusqu'à devenir conseiller privé du Roi. Il a fondé également l'université d'Allahabad.
Sir Alfred Lyall fut nommé Commander of the Order of the Bath (KCB) en 1881, ainsi que Grand Commander of the Order of the Indian Empire (GCIE) en 1896.
