China, uncertain period, "Ch'in" series, plain type, odd shaped medium of exchange, and also known as "bridge money", (c.300-226 B.C.), (weights 14.09 g), width 118mm, ornamental inscription (mostly obscured) but with hook for support, (Hartill -, cf.Coole 6669 - 6721, Vol.5 p.473-477, Not in Sch. or TFP). With heavy green patination, about fine and rare.

Although known as "bridge money" these pieces are formerly known as funerary objects designed to imitate the stone chimes of the bianqing. Bridge Money have been accepted by some Chinese numismatists as actual coins of Ba and Shu States during the warring States period.
