Macedon, Kingdom of Philip II, (359-336 B.C.), jeweller's copy gold stater, Pella mint, issued period III, 323/2-315 B.C., obv. head of Apollo to right with laureate wreath, rev. galloping biga driven by charioteer holding kentron in right hand, reins in left hand, helmet below, in exergue FILIPPOV, (cf.S.6663, SNG Cop. 528). Very fine, housed within a gilt oval support frame of sterling silver.
