Constantius II. AD 337-361. Æ Follis (17.5mm, 1.94 g, 4h). Contemporary imitation. Copying an Aquileia mint issue of AD 355-361. Pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Helmeted soldier to right, holding spear and shield, spearing fallen horseman on ground to left; shield below to right; M|–//PAQ. Cf. RIC VIII 230; cf. LRBC 938 (all references for official issue). Brown patina, roughness, scratches. Good Fine. Overstruck on an Æ Follis of Constantius II as Caesar. An interesting overstrike of an imitation over an official issue, effectively raising the value of the coin in the marketplace.
