Divus Romulus (son of Maxentius) BI Nummus. Rome, AD 308-310. DIVO ROMVLO N V BIS CONS, bare head to right / AETERNAE MEMORIAE, domed temple with open doors, eagle standing to right, head to left on dome; RBP in exergue. RIC VI 207. 5.69g, 24mm, 4h.

Very Fine.

From the Don Ferrante Collection.

Not much is known about Valerius Romulus, the oldest son of Maxentius. He was born circa in AD 292-295 and seems to have died when he was 14 years or older, after serving twice as consul together with his father, in AD 308 and AD 309. This young Caesar's death shattered his father's attempt at founding a dynasty.
