Seleukid Empire, Demetrios I Soter AR Tetradrachm. Susa, 162-150 BC. Diademed head to right / Apollo Delphios seated to left on omphalos, testing arrow in his right hand, left hand holding tip of bow set on ground to right; BAΣIΛEΩΣ to right, ΔHMHTPIOY to left, monogram in outer left field and [Δ] in exergue. SC 1711.3 corr. (control marks); Le Rider, Suse, pl. VI, C (same dies); CNG 117, lot 292 (same dies); HGC 9, 790c. 17.00g, 27mm, 9h.

Good Extremely Fine; highly lustrous, almost untouched surfaces, light cabinet tone. Very Rare.

From a private European collection.

We can see from comparison with other specimens of the type that this reverse die was prone to clogging in the detail, as when the present coin was struck the monogram in the outer left field was not reproduced well at all.
