IHC AVT TRANSIENS PER MEDIVM ILLORV IBAT (Luke 4:30, 'But He passing through the midst of them went His way'), York rose in splendour (the special cognizance of the King2) over cross with lis ends, crowned lions passant guardant in angles, beaded and linear tressures and outer beaded circle, mm crown at beginning of legend, (S.1952), wavy flan with scratches to obv. field to left and right of King, the imitation die with weaker engraving leading to a duller strike, thus AVF for issue.
