This unusual object is part of a set of tokens designed and engraved by Jean Dassier and Jerôme Roussel for the card game 'Jeux de l'Hombre'. All based on scenes of Ovid's Metamorphoses, the three players were given a set of tokens from each of the three books of the work. The pieces are recorded only in brass and bronzed copper and therefore this piece in a silver coloured metal, possibly nickel, is of particular interest and rarity.
