Sixpence 1862 Large Date, type as ESC 1711, Bull 3207 UNC and lustrous with an attractive golden tone, some very minor hairlines in the obverse field and an edge nick by the V of VICTORIA, the reverse choice. A key date Victorian rarity, with the large date accounting for only a small percentage of the overall mintage and by far the rarer type for this date, the two date sizes not differentiated by ESC, Bull or Davies. We note also that only two examples of the large date type have been graded by LCGS, the finest being LCGS 65, which realised £700 hammer price when auctioned in LCA A170 September 6th 2010
