Sovereign 1859 'Ansell' type, Marsh 42A, S.3852E, with the additional line on the ribbon behind the ear, Fine/Good Fine, the reverse cleaned with some deeper hairlines causing a depression in the field either side of the crown and shield, viewing recommended. One of the key rarities of the entire Sovereign series, rated R4 by Marsh, the rarity of this type fully justified, many advanced Sovereign collections are missing this extremely rare type.
