KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 17.23 g, 12 h), Damaskos, struck under Menon or Menes, circa 330-320. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, forepart of a ram to right; below throne, two pellets and ΔA above another pellet. Price 3209. Lightly toned, struck on excellent silver and of fine style, a splendid piece. Struck very slightly off center, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
