THESSALY, Thessalian League. Mid-late 1st century BC. Stater (Silver, 21 mm, 6.23 g, 1 h), Damothoinos and Philoxenides, magistrates. Head of Zeus to right, wearing oak wreath. Rev. ΘEΣΣA/ΛΩN - ΔΑ-ΜΟΘΟI - [ΦΙ]ΛΟΞ[ΕΝ] Athena Itonia striding right, hurling spear with her right hand and holding shield on her left arm. BCD Thessaly II 870.3 var. (longer name forms). HGC 4, 210. Beautifully toned. Some light scratches and minor deposits, otherwise, very fine.
