KINGS OF PERGAMON. Attalos I, 241-197 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 17.00 g, 12 h), circa 241. Diademed head of Philetairos to right. Rev. ΦIΛETAIΡOΥ Athena seated left, holding her spear downwards over her right shoulder and leaning left on a shield decorated with a gorgoneion; to left, above and below her right hand, ivy leaf and A; to right, bow. SNG Paris -. SNG von Aulock 7453. Westermark Group IV A, V.XXIX/R3. A very rare transitional issue of bold Hellenistic style. Some minor corrosion, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
