IONIA. Herakleia ad Latmon. Circa 140-135 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 31 mm, 16.86 g, 12 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet decorated with Pegasos springing to right above the foreparts of five galloping horses and a long tendril on the bowl, triple-pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. HPAKΛEΩTΩN Club; below, thunderbolt between two monograms; all within oak wreath. SNG Copenhagen -. SNG Lockett 2823. SNG von Aulock -. A beautifully toned piece of excellent style. Minor areas of weakness, otherwise, extremely fine.
