Draped bust of Yazdgard III to right, wearing mural crown; before head, YZDKLTY ('Yazdgard' in Pahlawi). Rev. Fire altar flanked by two attendants; to left, date in Pahlawi; to right, SK, name of the mint in Pahlawi. Cf. Leu Web Auction 12 (2020), 802 (differing style). Very rare. An interesting issue of highly unusual style. Minor scratches and with light deposits, otherwise, about very fine.

This coin is one of the last issues of the crumbling Sasanian empire, struck a few years before Yazdgard III was betrayed and killed by a local official not far from Marw.
