HUNNIC TRIBES, Western Turks. Yabghu of the Bactrians, circa 650-700. Drachm (Silver, 31 mm, 4.00 g, 3 h), uncertain mint in Baktria or Zabulistan. Draped and bearded Sasanian style bust of Yabghu to right, wearing crown with two crescent attached to diadem and buffalo's head flanked by wings; behind head, blundered NYCKY MLKA ('Nezak King' in Pahlawi); before head, YBGW BHLK'N ('Yabghu of the Bactrians' in Pahlawi); in outer margins, three tamgha-in-crescent. Rev. Fire altar flanked by two attendants; to left, Z'WLST ('Zabulistan' inverted in Pahlawi); to right, blundered date inverted in Pahlawi, possibly RY 15. Göbl -. Vondrovec, Type 265A var. A very interesting example with mirrored date and mint. Good very fine.
