Elagabalus, 218-222. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.25 g, 6 h), uncertain mint in the East, 218-219. ANTONINVS PIVS FEL AVG Laureate and draped bust of Elagabalus to right, seen from behind. Rev. HILARITAS AVG Hilaritas standing front, head to left, holding palm frond in her right hand and cornucopiae in her left. BMC -. Cohen -. RIC -. Thirion -. Apparently unpublished save for its previous auction appearance. An attractive and well struck example of bold eastern style. Slightly rough, otherwise, extremely fine.
