Lucius Caesius, 112-111 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.05 g, 9 h), a contemporary plated imitation. Draped bust of Vejovis to left, seen from behind, hurling thunderbolt with his right hand; behind, monogram of ROMA. Rev. L•CAESI Two Lares seated right, each holding long staff in his left hand; between them, a dog; above, head of Vulcan to left with tongs behind. Cf. Babelon (Caesia) 1, Crawford 298/1, RBW 1140 and Sydenham 564 (for prototype). Cleaning scratches and with minor breaks in plating, otherwise, very fine.
