Severus Alexander, 222-235. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.50 g, 12 h), Rome, 222. IMP C M AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Severus Alexander to right, seen from behind. Rev. SALVS PVBLICA Salus seated left, feeding serpent, rising from altar, out of patera with her right hand and leaning with her left elbow on throne. BMC 77. Cohen 530. RIC 178. Beautifully toned and with a charming early portrait of the young emperor. The reverse a bit weak, otherwise, about extremely fine.
