Anonymous Folles, time of Basil II & Constantine VIII, circa 976-1025. Follis (Bronze, 24 mm, 6.13 g, 6 h), a contemporary imitation from an irregular mint. +ЄMMANOVHΛ (retrograde) Nimbate bust of Christ facing, wearing tunic and pallium, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left; in fields, IC - XC (retrograde). Rev. [+IҺSЧS / X]RISTЧS / bASILЄЧ / bΑSILЄ in four lines; below, geometric ornament. Cf. DOC Class A2.52. SB 1813 (for prototype). Struck on a somewhat short flan, otherwise, good very fine.
