ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. temp. 'Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan, AH 65-86 / AD 685-705. Pashiz (Bronze, 23 mm, 0.47 g, 12 h), Arab-Sasanian type, Kavad-Khurra, AH 71-91 = AD 690-710. Crowned and draped Sasanian-style bust facing; to left and right, AFZUT GDH ('may his kingship increase' in Pahlawi); in the field to left, 'bism Allah' ('In the name of Allah' in Kufic); in the field to right, 'ya Allah' ('o God' in Kufic). Rev. ABAD (or AZAD) KAVAD-KHURRA ('May Kavad-Khurra be prosperous [or free]' in Pahlawi) Crowned and draped Sasanian-style bust to right. Gyselen 34. Extremely rare. Holed, otherwise, good fine.
