ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. temp. 'Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan, AH 65-86 / AD 685-705. Pashiz (Bronze, 20 mm, 0.52 g, 12 h), Arab-Sasanian type, citing Farrukhzad, Kavad-Khurra, circa AH 75-79 = circa AD 695-699. Draped bust resembling Khosrau II to right, wearing elaborate mural crown; behind head, AFZUT GDH ('may his kingship increase' in Pahlawi); before head, PLHWZAT ('Farrukhzad' in Pahlawi). Rev. ABAD (or AZAD) KAVAD-KHURRA ('May Kavad-Khurra be prosperous [or free]' in Pahlawi) Male figure standing right, in military attire, wearing elaborate headdress and holding spear pointed at both ends in his left hand. Album -, cf. O46 (not naming Farrukhzad). Gyselen -, cf. 109 (not naming Farrukhzad). Extremely rare with the name Farrukhzad. An unusually attractive example. Light doubling on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
