ISLAMIC, Persia (Pre-Seljuq). Banijurids. Sahlan ibn Maktum, circa AH 367-378 / AD 977-988. Multiple Dirham (Silver, 44 mm, 10.24 g), citing the Samanid overlord Nuh III and Qur'an 9:34 ('and there are those who bury gold and silver and spend it not in the way of Allah, announce unto them the most grievious penalty ' in Kufic), Andaraba, AH 378 = AD 988/9. Album A1440. Rare. Struck from slightly worn dies, otherwise, very fine.

From the collection of Dr. D. Löer, ex Album Horizon Auction 1, 2 October 2016, 471.

This very interesting issue cites the last part of Qur'an 9:34 ('announce unto them the most grievous penalty' in Kufic), which is usually missing.
