ISLAMIC, Mongols. Ilkhanids. Abaqa, AH 663-681 / AD 1265-1282. Fals (Bronze, 24 mm, 3.83 g, 7 h), probably Dmanisi (in Georgia, near the border to Armenia), circa AH 679-681 = AD 1280-1282. Large cross in center with the legend 'Lord God, Jesus Christ' (in Armenian) in angles; around, 'bism al-Ab wa 'l-Ibn wa-Ruh al-Quds Alahu wahid' ('in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, the one God' (in Arabic). Rev. Legend in Uyghur naming Abaqa. Bennett 359. Very rare. Areas of weakness and with light corrosion, otherwise, very fine.

Bennett locates the mint for this issue in Dmanisi, a town in southern Georgia near the border to Armenia.
