ARMENIA, City Council of Dvin. Fals (Bronze, 11 mm, 3.50 g), anonymous, Dvin, circa AH 550-558 = AD 1155-1163. Symbol within dotted circle; around, illegible legend. Rev. Bird standing right, flanked by three pellets on the left and a single pellet on the right; around, illegible legend. A. Akopyan: Dvin in the eleventh and twelfth centuries. City history in the light of new numismatic materials, p. 1039, type 22. Very rare and of great interest. Fine.

A. Akopyan attributes this type to the short period of time between the death of the Shaddadid Amir, Fahr al-Din Ahdabid, in 1155 and the capture of the city of Dvin by the Atabeq of Azerbaijan, Eligüz, in 1163.
