Justinian I, 527-565. Follis (Bronze, 32 mm, 13.56 g, 6 h), Ravenna, RY 34 = 560/1. D N IVSTINIANVS P I C (sic!) Helmeted, diademed and cuirassed bust of Justinian I facing, holding globus cruciger in his right hand and with a shield, decorated with a horseman spearing a fallen foe, over his left shoulder; in field to right, cross. Rev. Large M between A/N/N/O and X/XX/IIII; above, cross; in exergue, RAVEN/NA. DOC -. MIBE 233. SB 323. Very rare and in exceptional condition for the issue. Minor smoothing, otherwise, very fine.

This issue was struck in the years following the reconquest of Ravenna from the Ostrogoths by Narses in 552.
