John II Comnenus, 1118-1143. Tetarteron (Bronze, 19 mm, 3.23 g, 6 h), Thessalonica, circa 1137-1143. IC - XC Nimbate bust of Christ facing, wearing tunic and pallium, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left. Rev. IⲰ ΔЄCΠΟΤ ΤⲰ Bust of John II facing, wearing crown with pendilia and chlamys, holding jewelled scepter in his right hand and globus cruciger in his left. DOC 14b. SB 1953. Minor weakness on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
