Alexius III Angelus-Comnenus, 1195-1203. Hyperpyron (Gold, 28 mm, 4.21 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis, circa 1195-1197. IC - XC Christ standing facing on dais, nimbate, wearing pallium and colobium, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left. Rev. AΛЄΣ Δ Ο ΚⲰΝTANT Alexius III standing facing on the left, wearing crown and chlamys, holding akakia in his right hand and patriarchal cross together with St. Constantine, standing facing on the right, nimbate, bearded and crowned, wearing divitision and loros. DOC 1a. SB 2007. Well struck on a broad flan. Minor marks and struck from somewhat worn dies, otherwise, extremely fine.
