IONIA. Miletos. Circa 600-546 BC. Stater (Electrum, 21 mm, 13.95 g), Lydo-Milesian standard. Lion reclining left, head reverted to right; all within double rectangular linear frame divided into rectangular compartments. Rev. Central oblong punch, containing two pellets connected by a line and a quadruped standing left, flanked by two square punches containing, respectively, a stellate and a geometric pattern. Hilbert Phase 1, S13.1 (this coin, A6/G11). SNG Kayhan 441. SNG München 701. Struck from a somewhat worn obverse die, otherwise, very fine.
