John Comnenus-Ducas, as emperor of Thessalonica, 1237-1242. Trachy (Bronze, 22 mm, 1.92 g, 6 h), Thessalonica. OA - Δ/HM/H Half-length figure of St. Demetrius facing, beardless and nimbate, holding sword in his right hand and sheath in his left. Rev. ΙⲰ Δ John III standing facing on the left, wearing crown and loros, holding labarum in his right hand and anexikakia in his left, crowned by the Virgin Mary, nimbate, standing facing on the right; to right, MP - ΘV. DOC 7. SB 2193. Very rare and in exceptional condition for the issue. Minor areas of weakness, otherwise, good extremely fine.
