Gold "Leech" fibula (cloak pin). Hellenistic Thrace. Circa 4th-3rd centuries BC. (40 mm, 16.98 gm) Plain gold fibula with simple banded decorations and drop pendant terminal. Crude provincial workmanship, worn but still functional. Intact.

From the Kay Fredericks Collection. Ex Classical Numismatic Group 66 (19 May 2004), lot 2026. Website shipping rates do not apply.

The weight is equal to two Attic gold staters, hinting that this fibula served as a convenient store of wealth as well as an ostentatious piece of personal jewelry.
