Uncertain Issues of Central Italy AR Token or Victoriatus (?). Circa 1st century BC. Quadruped on exergual line set on cart with large seven spoked wheel and two trace shafts resting on ground / Victory holding palm branch, advancing to right on exergual line; uncertain letters below. Unpublished in the standard references, including C. Stannard, The Local Coinages of central Italy in the late Republic, Provisional catalogue 2007. For reverse type cf. This extraordinary silver token may have been privately issued to circulate on the occasion of the numerous victories celebrated in 1st century BC, where war booty was paraded on carts, in this case a horse or bull to left (?).
