Translation: Mother of God, help your servant Marules, imperial strator. Unpublished with this owner's name. 19.47g, 30mm, 12h.

Condition as seen.

From the collection of Italo Vecchi.

Marules is an extremely rare name and apparently unpublished on a seal. Two people with this name are known: Marules, the father of Olbianos, who commanded the Tagma of the Hikanatoi at the heavy defeat of the Byzantine army against the Bulgarians at the battle of Acheloos (917) and Marules, a Byzantine catepan of Italy in 1060/1061.
