Acquired at Argissa, May 1995.
Given not only the extraordinary beauty of the serene and noble portrait we see here, but also the fact that it appears to be possibly one of only four pieces struck from this obverse die, it is easy to forgive the slight delamination and cleaning marks on the reverse.
