William III (1694-1702), Great Recoinage, Crown, 1695 SEPTIMO, London, first laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, round breast plate, rev. crowned shields cruciform, six strings to harp, edge lettered downwards, cinquefoil stops, 29.92g, 6h (Bull 990; ESC 86; Pywell-Phillips - [cf. 168]; Spink 3470), faint adjustment to periphery and some possible smoothing before face, otherwise beautifully toned, good extremely fine and much as issued, the most wholesome example this cataloguer has seen of this frequently encountered issue.
Formerly encapsulated by NGC AU-Details ~ Obverse Repaired, an assessment which would seem unnecessarily and unduly harsh (Cert. 6318273-001)
