George I (1714-1727), 'South Sea Company' Shilling, 1723, first laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, rev. four crowned shields cruciform, SS-C in angles, five strings to harp, obliquely milled edge, 5.99g, 5h (ESC 1176; Bull 1586; Spink 3647), colourfully toned overlying lustrous original fields, handsomely uniform, a pleasing extremely fine, a choicer example even for this commonly encountered type.
